Our vacancy

The Virgin Care MSK Physiotherapy team in Darlington provides an invaluable service of specialist advice and treatment for patients across our clinics. We deliver a Triage and Treat MSK physiotherapy service across the surrounding region and aim to make a difference to people’s lives within this community.

You will join a small team led by a the Service Manager and will work alongside dedicated and highly-skilled NHS-trained physiotherapists and administration team members. We are a team of 15 number in total and look to support each other in any way we can by holding regular meetings and CPD sessions.

Brief Job Description:

To lead and provide highly expert skills in the MSK triage assessment and treatment of patients. To independently manage a caseload of clients with a highly complex caseload of patients with a wide range of needs, including Trauma, Orthopaedics, Rheumatology Pain, Learning disabilities and acute and chronic pain with bio psychosocial features, taking the lead as a care coordinator and/or advocate where appropriate. Evaluate service provision and develop evidence based practice, forwarding change as needed, within the Musculoskeletal Service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work as a completely autonomous practitioner providing an expert level of extended scope physiotherapy care undertaking assessments, diagnosis and therapy to an independent caseload of clients including those presenting with complex conditions. You will provide clinics in locations within the Darlington area as required.
  • To provide training and development within the MSK service of physiotherapy assistants, students and all other levels of qualified physiotherapy staff. To continually act in an advisory role about MSK work, often spontaneously to the outpatient MSK department, and address training needs as necessary.
  • To provide an injection therapy service as required.
  • Plan and prioritise own workload as an autonomous clinician in response to service needs.
  • Patients are seen by the ESP instead of and/or on behalf of the medical Consultant.
