About Mencap
At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high-quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Role Description
We have opportunities for caring and enthusiastic individuals to join us in supporting adults with a learning disability. We have a total of 2 services in Clacton-On-Sea and 1 in Frinton-On-Sea and are looking for Female Support Workers to join our teams in these services. Working times will be shift work on a rota basis across weekdays, weekends and bank holidays

The service in Clacton-On-Sea is split into 2 flats which are currently occupied by 2 ladies in each flat.
We are looking for Female Support Workers with driving experience and a full UK driving licence. You do not need to have your own car as the people we support have their own cars but drivers will be expected to drive mobility cars.

Flat 1
Both ladies require full support with all their daily living aspects like personal care, cooking, cleaning and minimal moving and handling. The people we support will require support with their wheelchairs whilst out on long distances . They enjoy social activities when accessing the community but also whilst in their own home .The successful candidate will need to be patient and willing to learn ways to communicate with the people we support as they are not always verbal

Flat 2
Both ladies are very independent and require minimal support from staff. Staff need to support the ladies and ensure safety at all times and day to day opportunities .

Our service in Frinton-On-Sea is currently home to 5 mature adults with and Learning disability .The service does not require the need of a driver . 3 of the people we support are very independent however require verbal support and guidance . All the people we support enjoy social activities . The service does require support around moving and handling which is very minimal . The people we support use wheelchairs and so the successful candidate will need to be able to provide support with pushing the wheel chair
