Job Description

The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust serves a population of around 230,000 people in the Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft and Waveney areas. The Trust provides an integrated hospital and community children’s service.

We invite experienced urologists to apply for the following positions;

1. Fixed Term Specialty Doctor required from ASAP for a minimum period of 1 year, with the possibility to extend.

2. Fixed Term Specialty Doctor required from ASAP for maternity leave cover until 9th January 2017.

The successful applicants will join the Urology team to provide a comprehensive and modern Urological Service.

Candidates will be required to have full GMC registration with at least 1 years’ experience in Urology. Possession of FRCS/MRCS or equivalent degree is essential.

We have an active PGME Centre which supports educational and training activities for specialty doctors. We take pride in the fact that in last 5 years, four of our Urology middle grade doctors obtained Fellowship in Urology FRCS(Urol). Three of them got urology accreditation and 2 are in Consultant posts now.

The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH) provides Medical Services for a population of approximately 230,000 living in South East Norfolk and North East Suffolk, plus a large number of visitors to the coast and Broads National Park during the summer months. In addition, it provides approximately 1/3 of the Secondary Care Teaching for the new UEA Medical School. The Trust is forward looking and highly regarded within the Region. It became a Foundation Trust in 2006.

The JPUH have been given an overall rating of “Good,” following the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection which took place in August 2015. This places us in the top 30% of acute trusts in the country.

The James Paget University Hospital is located less than a mile from long, sandy beaches, and is within commuting distance from several small villages. There is a wide choice of good local schools, and competitive house prices. The roads are free from traffic congestion, and residents enjoy a good quality of life with easy access to the natural beauty of the Norfolk Broads, famed for its wildlife, walking, cycling, and sailing opportunities. The historic city of Norwich is only 30 minutes away, and has an international airport. There are also excellent rail links to London, and easy access to Stansted airport and the ports of Felixstowe and Harwich for access to Europe.
