Fixed Term Contract (1 year)
The Hillingdon Hospital wishes to appoint a Trust SpR in Urology to join the urology department on a 1 year fixed-term (end 03/10/17) contract basis. This post is to cover a secondment and would be suitable for an aspiring Urology trainee who has not yet been successful in national selection for SpR training. A discussion about expected training objectives and CPD will be had with the successful candiate.
The London Borough of Hillingdon has a population of 250,000, stretching from HeathrowAirport in the south to Northwood in the north. The airport adds an international dimension to service provision.The hospital has a busy Accident and Emergency with 70,000 referrals a year. The HillingdonHospital is in the south of the Borough and provides outpatient, elective, day case and ITU/HDU services (among others).In the north of the BoroughMount VernonHospital provides outpatient, elective and day care services in a new state-of-the-art Treatment Centre.
The department has 2 consultant Urologists and a support team of 2 registrars, 2 house officers, two specialist nurses and administrative staff. The department offers a general urology service with a multi-disciplinary (MDT) approach for routine and urgent referrals in line with current referral to treatment needs. This is well supported by diagnostic services including laboratory sciences and radiology with an on-site MRI scanner, isotope scanning facilities and ultra sound.
