Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trustprovides a comprehensive range of community, physical and mental health services for residents of Northamptonshire.
We serve a culturally and socially diverse population of around 700,000 people living in the districts and boroughs of Corby, Daventry, East Northamptonshire, Kettering, Northampton, South Northamptonshire and Wellingborough. Within Northamptonshire there are pockets of high deprivation and life expectancy rates that are lower than the norm. The county is also facing a projected population increase of 50% over the period 2005 to 2035. We employ circa 4,000 staff and operate from a number of hospital sites, clinics and premises within the county.
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides service for adult and elderly mental health, learning disabilities, child and adolescent psychiatry, sexual health, drug and addictions, clinical psychology and mental health therapies and traumatic brain injury. In July 2002 the Trust entered into a partnership agreement with the Social Care and Health service of Northamptonshire County Council for Adult Mental Health. The Trust now manages all these services and the budget for community and specialist placements. Services are provided on five hospital sites and from community clinics.
Northamptonshire is now part of the Strategic Health Authority encompassing Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland within the East Midlands region. The Trust is committed to continuing professional development and encouragement is given to develop special interests, undertake research activities and forge links with appropriate academic centres. The Trust has current links with LeicesterMedicalSchool as well as historical links with OxfordMedicalSchool. There is also an active teaching programme.
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT) gained foundation status in May 2009. The Trust has embraced ‘New Ways of Working’ and is currently undertaking a Service redesign Programme to meet the challenges in the modern NHS in line with ’New Horizons’ and the Darzi review. The Trust is looking for enthusiastic Medical Staff to join the Adult Directorate at this exciting time.
