Gynaecology Nurse Practitioner Band 6 or 7 depending upon experience.

We are seeking to recruit a dynamic, highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced nurse or midwife to join us in working as part of the Obstetric and Gynaecological nursing team. The Early Pregnancy Assessment and Termination of Pregnancy services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital provide outpatient based care for patients from the Gateshead area. The unit has a clear patient focus and a reputation for quality and excellence within the Business Unit. Successful candidates will be expected to maintain and build upon these standards and contribute to the development of the service.

The post holder will work as part of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology nursing and midwifery team, providing high quality care to patients with early pregnancy disorders as well as supporting and facilitating the pathway for patients requiring termination of pregnancy. An integral part of the role involves working in collaboration with colleagues within the MDT and ward nursing and midwifery teams within both the Business Unit and across the Trust.

The successful applicant will need to meet the following criteria:

  • RN or RM with current 1st level NMC registration
  • Significant experience of gynaecology nursing / managing patients with early pregnancy problems
  • Specific interest in the care and management of patients within a non-ward based setting
  • Recognised qualification in ultrasound scanning or the willingness to work towards completion of this within a 2 year period
  • Specific interest in contributing towards service improvement and practice development within the nursing and midwifery team
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of the wider multi-disciplinary team
  • Flexibility to respond to the changing needs of the service
  • Recognised Contraception training is desirable
