Reporting to the Home Manager - To organise and maintain the efficient and economic cleaning of the care home. This is to ensure the smooth and clean operation of the Care Home.
1.To supervise, motivate and control domestic and laundry staff to achieve compliance with the standards of the Home.
2.To plan duty roster and annual leave to ensure a continuous and adequate domestic and laundry service.
3.To control the purchase, consumption and handling of all chemicals and products to ensure budgets are attained and Health and Safety matters are fully complied with.
4.To minimise the risk of accidents and waste by effective training and supervision.
5.To complete all necessary documentation and administration to ensure the smooth running of the department.
6.To check all relevant machinery and equipment to ensure that it is in safe working order and train all appropriate personnel in its correct use.
7.To supervise the laundry area ensuring an efficient and smooth running system is in place for the handling of personal clothing, bed linen and catering staff uniforms.
8.To secure the service users' property and the Homes property and premises.
9.To report all comments, compliments and complaints.
10.To report any defects, damage, theft, breakages or hazards.
11.To attend fire evacuation and instruction sessions.
12.To carry out other duties as well, from time to time as directed.
13.To carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard to the Health and Safety of self, colleagues, service users and visitors to the Home.
•Clean and sanitize rooms including furnishings in assigned work areas
•Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout all facilities
•Demonstrate an understanding of age specifics, cultural, and ethnic needs for patients and customers that have language barriers, physical and mental impairments, learning disabilities, and those dealing with emotional stress
•Will need to demonstrate the ability to work without direct supervision
•Must have ability to do extensive standing, bending, lifting, and pulling carts and equipment
•Experience of working in a similar role
•Good Communication Skills
•Ability to work on own initiative
•Ability to maintain high levels of hygiene within the workplace
•Good interpersonal skills
