The Mental Health physiotherapy and Exercise & Health service is looking to recruit a Health and Exercise Practitioner.

We are looking for enthusiastic sports science graduates who are keen to further their skills within the field of in-patient mental health.

The post will offer the successful applicants the opportunity to develop their skills in a more holistic manner. The post will also offer the chance to develop knowledge and awareness of how exercise and its’ associated effects can be used in the treatment of those suffering from severe and enduring mental illness. You will work as part of a team to assess the risk of malnutrition and provide treatment plans, such as healthy eating advice.

Experience will also be gained in the broader aspects of health care e.g. health and well-being, education, etc. as well as developing core skills, but learning how to adapt them to this specialist environment.

We are looking for a keen and adaptable individual who has a positive interest and a desire to work within the field of mental health.

The post holder will need to have a sports science degree and have some experience or proven awareness of the role of the Health and Exercise Practitioner within a mental health setting.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory trainingand post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.

A valid UK driving licence plus the use of own transport for business purposes is essential. For qualifying staff the Trust has a Lease Car Scheme in place.
