This is an exciting time to join the community health service, providing services in Kingston upon Thames. Achieving for Children (AfC) was launched on April 1, 2014 and is jointly owned by Kingston and Richmond councils to provide children’s services within the two boroughs. This is a first nationally, putting AfC at the forefront of service re-design. Within AfC our aim is to achieve excellence in everything we do by putting children and young people first in the design, delivery and evaluation of every service we provide, to ensure they are supported to live safe, happy, healthy and successful.

The Integrated Service for Children with a Disability based at Moor Lane opened in September 2009. The centre provides a one stop health and social care service for children and young people with disabilities, developmental and complex health needs.

Within the Moor Lane Centre is the Children’s Community Nursing Team. This team also provides a service to two local schools for children with complex needs, Bedelsford School and Dysart School.

We currently require a 07 wte administrative/ healthcare assistant to work with the Children’s Community Nurse team. The post would support the nursing team to provide care to families by undertaking administrative tasks, organising the office, taking messages and generating invoices for externally funded work. The post would also involve some tasks to support the clinical work of nurses, which as management, procurement and delivery of equipment, supporting nurses with clinical tasks where two people are required etc.

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion and interest for nursing. We require a confident, emphatic and competent individual who can maintain the smooth running of the office and support the service, as well as being the first point of contact for families who contact the service. The position requires someone who can remain calm in an emergency and who is comfortable in taking initiative to support the care of children and families.
