HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT (TEMPORARY)
To provide under supervision a high standard of nursing care and to develop experience of palliative care and symptom control. To participate in integrated working across all Patient Services departments, with flexibility as needed to ensure effective service delivery in all areas. To observe and report the patient’s general condition and response to prescribed treatments to senior nursing and medical staff as appropriate.
Saint Catherine’s Hospice cares for adults with life limiting or life threatening conditions and their families, covering a large geographical area of approximately 1600 square miles encompassing the Borough of Scarborough, Ryedale and parts of East Yorkshire. The Hospice is a well-respected and loved organisation embedded in the community it serves and the prospect of developing our services to patients and their families further through our Hospice at Home and Care Homes Service is an exciting and rewarding challenge.
Hours: 375 hours per week (Monday-Sunday: early, late and night shifts throughout 24 hour period). Part time hours will be considered
Duration of Contract: Temporary from 2nd January 2017 until 30th June 2017

Essential Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience
NVQ 2 - Health & Social Care/Health Care or equivalent qualification
Ability to deliver high quality nursing care
Experience of working in a healthcare setting
Enthusiastic and motivated with a positive attitude
Effective communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to work within a team
Ability to work flexible hours days/nights and participate in integrated working across patient services departments
Computer skills - competent use of Microsoft and e-mail.
Car driver essential for Community Posts
Able to work to the levels of activity identified in the Job Assessment
