Providing quality, inspiring innovation and delivering value is what we set out to achieve at Priory Healthcare. Enabling our patients with mental health difficulties to receive a truly integrated and holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity, thanks to the knowledge and expertise of our multidisciplinary clinical teams.
Thornford Park, part of Priory Healthcare, is an independent 133 bedded hospital set in 23 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire - close to the Hampshire borders.
Our top rated forensic hospital provides services for male service users detained under the Mental Health Act (1983), who require care in conditions of medium and low security. We offer long-term treatment and rehabilitation for patients with enduring mental disorders and forensic histories, who present with multiple problems, challenging and high risk behaviours and complex care needs.
Our newly opened, 10 bedded, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), provides care and treatment for adult male service users who are experiencing an acutely disturbed phase of a serious mental disorder.
We are currently looking to recruit Healthcare Assistants to work as part of a multi disciplinary team to deliver high quality personal and psychological nursing care to our patients; this includes acting as a hospital driver and patient escort.
It is important that candidates can demonstrate high levels of mental resilience in order to work in a changing and often challenging environment. It is also a requirement that candidates can successfully complete our mandatory training programme, which includes learning physical intervention techniques for managing violence and aggression.
Hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week (3 x 12.5 hour shifts a week), including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of the people who use our services, and those who care for them and want to contribute to an organisation which is continuously striving to improve, then we would love to hear from you.
Please note that sch.9 (1) Equality Act 2010 applies to this role and that priority will be given to male applicants.
