Mallard is a 39 bedded ward, which is on the cutting edge of technology, providing surgical experience for staff caring for patients undergoing conventional cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplantation and PTE surgery.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join our motivated and friendly team. Mallard ward has a 5 bedded PCU area set within the existing ward for patients requiring a higher level of nursing intervention. Staff rotation between the PCU and the 34 bedded ward will be available.

The overall role is to assist the qualified nurses in the care of patients undergoing cardiac surgery. You will be expected to support induction and supervision of new Assistant Healthcare Support Workers. Following training and assessment you will be expected to perform enhanced practices set for this role.

It is essential that candidates who apply hold a care certificate or equivalent and have previous experience of working in cardio thoracic setting as a Health Care Support Worker.
