Job Description

St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the regional specialist care provider for south west London, Surrey and beyond. The trust provides a high quality, comprehensive range of health services from leading edge tertiary and trauma care to community services, delivered from 2 hospital sites, St.George’s Hospital in Tooting and Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, and from St John’s Therapy Centre, 11 health centres and clinics, schools, nursing homes and people’s own homes. The trust also manages the healthcare service at HMP Wandsworth. With national and regional referrals added to our local 35m catchment, we serve a population of around 5m. We employ around 8,000 staff.

An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic Speech & Language Therapist to implement an innovative model of therapy which aims to embed speech, language and communication within the school curriculum. The post-holder will demonstrate excellent clinical skills to work with pupils with learning difficulties and/or ASD in the Primary School by providing therapy that is embedded in the curriculum. The post holder will also be responsible the delivery of parent and staff training packages. The post holder will provide line management support for other therapists and assistants and clinical supervision as necessary.

Paddock School is a split-site day Special School with 3 sites that caters for pupils from 3-19 years. Pupils attending Paddock may have Severe Complex Learning Difficulties and/or ASD with moderate/severe learning difficulties. The post holder will have extensive experience working within this field. The post holder will be flexible, with a commitment to new ways of working and have an innovative approach to patient centred care and efficient service delivery.

You will need:
• Experience of and highly specialist skills working with complex/severe learning difficulties and ASD
• Experience of working within a special school setting
• Experience of delivering training courses to staff and parents/carers
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team
• Ability to work flexibly and independently
• Enthusiasm, imagination and initiative
