Bank Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse - CICU/PICU/NICU

Bank Partners - the nursing Bank at Great Ormond Street - is currently recruiting bank staff to work within all ITU areas at GOSH. If you are looking for flexible working or looking to test the water in a different setting then we are looking for you!

The Intensive Care Units are committed to supporting the recruitment of ICU nurses from other ICU units within the UK who wish to work at Great Ormond Street. We can offer initial supernumerary shifts to orientate you to the unit and receive training in the systems used.

You will also benefit from a recently increased and highly competitive hourly pay rate and flexible shifts to suit your situation


- Experience of working in an ICU unit

- If NICU, experience of a Level 3 unit.

- If NICU, you must have a completed 405 ICU course

Shifts to suit you

If you are looking for consistency in your working pattern, whether full- or part-time hours, we can arrange set shifts (for periods of anything up to a year) to cover staff members on maternity or long-term sick leave. Alternatively, we can also offer flexible, ad-hoc shifts in a variety of wards to enable you to build your knowledge and experience new working environments.

Ward orientation

If you have an interest in working in a specific area or ward, we can arrange a ward orientation with a senior member of staff. This will give you the chance to familiarise yourself with any specific policies and procedures and meet senior staff members before working a shift.

Internal training

You will have access to a variety of free training courses, including paediatric basic life support (BLS), paediatric immediate life support (PILS) and manual handling study days. When you start, you will also attend a Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) induction day to familiarise yourself with our procedures and the specialist medical equipment we use.

NHS pension

If you already have a pension through the NHS, you can continue contributing to the pension through your bank wages while working flexible hours.

Online booking and timesheet system

We use an online booking and electronic timesheet system so you can log your availability, book shifts that suit you and submit your weekly hours in a convenient and timely manner.

Competitive rates of pay

Our pay rates are competitive within the London area. We will pay your NI contributions and also include your holiday pay upfront in your hourly rate so you do not have to wait for your holiday payments.

Priority over agency workers

Many of our wards now operate a ‘zero agency’ policy, which means our bank staff can choose from a wider choice of shifts. When booking shifts, you will always be given priority over staff from an external agency.

Pleasant working environment

We are currently in Phase 2 of our ambitious four-phase redevelopment programme. Phase 2A, the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, the first part of the Mittal Children's Medical Centre, has now been constructed and the patients and staff have moved in, providing a modern working environment and an abundance of new equipment.
