We are a pioneering research active organisation and we are proud to be doing things differently; whether that be redefining the shape of the local health and care system through our innovative plans for integrated care, or developing new services such as our Frail Older Person’s Assessment Service and our Medically Fit for Discharge Ward.
As well as creating the future, we also know the importance of providing really good, safe, and caring services for our patients. Our iCARE ethos sets out the principles which every member of our staff works to, ensuring good communication, attitude, respect and care for the hospital environment. Our patients tell us we’re getting this right, with our Friends and Family Test results consistently above 95 per cent (patients ‘extremely likely’ or ‘likely’ to recommend us to their friends and family).
Band 5 ICU Staff Nurse
Yeovil District Hospital has enjoyed a stable and successful history; trusted and respected by our patients, staff and commissioners, and well-rated by the ‘Care Quality Commission’ and ‘Monitor’.
We have been repeatedly rated as one of the top-10 healthcare employers in the country, a leading-light in global research and development, and attracted national interest in our iCARE model, which has established the principles of exemplary patient care experience within our Hospital.
Nationally, our standards of excellence and passion for innovation are recognised on a regular basis. In 2014, ITV’s People’s Millions awarded us £50,000 to fund a sensory dementia-friendly garden. We also won the Nursing Times award for patient safety, and this year were finalists in the Nursing Standard award for enhancing patient experience.
We’re radically redesigning how we provide care and embracing technology to improve our services and patient safety. A bid led by Yeovil Hospital, with Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group, the South Somerset GP Federation, and Somerset County Council, to become one of the Government’s Vanguard sites, has been successful. This makes us the only Vanguard site in the South West, chosen from a national field of 269. In addition we are currently implementing Electronic Health Records following ministerial approval to fund the project. This will revolutionise the way that patient care is delivered and will be in active use in the Trust by the end of the year.
This is an exciting time to join the nursing team at Yeovil and we are looking to recruit enthusiastic, forward thinking nurses to join the Intensive Care Unit. Ideally you will have recent ICU experience, or be someone who can demonstrate a keen interest to learn and develop knowledge and skill set in Intensive Care Nursing.
