An opportunity has arisen to join our team of Radiographers, Health Care Assistants, Nurses and Radiologists, providing Vascular intervention, Neuro intervention and Fluoroscopy services based at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, Stoke-on-Trent.

We have 2 full hybrid theatres (Siemens Artis Zeego and Philips bi-plane FD20/20) a multipurpose (Siemens Artis Zee MP) and an Artis DRF fluoroscopy room.

We currently run an 8-6 service and a full 24/7 on call service which the candidate will be expected to take full part in. For full time staff, this works out at approximately 3/4 on calls per month, including one 24hr weekend day. This is flexibly self-rostered. The candidate would be fully supported in covering on calls until they feel they are fully competent.

Our unit is a busy but friendly area, which is rapidly expanding to include our own Radiology day case unit, potential extended days and several new consultant Interventional Radiologists joining our team. We are a leading IR centre for EVAR and TVAR, trauma and Stroke. Our work also includes urology, gastro and gynae (such as balloon occlusion for placenta accrete/percreta patients).

The new candidate will be fully supported in their new role by an allocated mentor and new starter pack. Your day to day role would include:

  • Efficient and effective running of the interventional/neuro/fluoro lists and undertaking angiographic duties and procedures.
  • Participate in the supervision of student Radiographers, rotating Radiographers and Radiology registrars.
  • Ensuring rooms are fully stocked and gaining product knowledge
  • Maintaining good working relationships with all departments

We currently run our own CPD club with input from external company representatives, radiologists and other professions. Attendance at vascular MDT meetings is encouraged and there are opportunities for enrolment onto external national courses.

Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area, has great access to local amenities, the Peak District and The Roaches. Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool are all reachable within an hour. Housing prices in the area are reasonably competitive.

Interviews are scheduled for week commencing 14th November 2016.
