Job Description

The Luton & Dunstable University Hospital is a highly rated, diverse and forward thinking place to work. We are a Foundation Trust serving a multi-cultural population of over 350,000 across Bedfordshire and North Hertfordshire.

Through tremendous commitment and hard work, our Paediatrics, Emergency Care Services and Outpatient Services achieved “Outstanding” in our 2016 Care Quality Commission inspection. We were praised as compassionate, empathetic and exhibiting patient outcomes above the average when compared with other acute Trusts.

We are a regional centre of excellence for several key specialties including, Obesity Research, Neurophysiology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Cancer Services. We are a tertiary level NICU provider and one of the largest centres for breast screening in the country.

The hospital continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.

A rare and exciting 12 months Band 6 secondment opportunity had arisen for an experienced Band 5 Staff Nurse in the Day Unit St Marys Wing. The working hours for this post are 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, however flexibility is essential.

The successful applicant will be given the opportunity and experience to develop their management and leadership skills and knowledge in a friendly and supportive environment.

The Trust reserves the right to close vacancies early after receipt of sufficient applications. All future correspondence regarding your application will be made on line via your NHS Jobs Account.

Please provide full contact details, including email addresses, for your referees (personal email addresses are not acceptable). All referees must hold a senior role to the post that you are applying for and should include your line manager from your current or most recent employment or a reference from Human Resources. If you are either newly qualified or about to qualify your referees should be from your mentor from your final placement and your university tutor. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting protection procedures to safeguard children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Following internal redeployment processes, vacancies at the Trust will be advertised to all prospective applicants at the same time via NHS jobs. If a suitable at risk NHS applicant from outside the Trust declares an interest or submits an application they will be given first consideration for the vacancy in order to retain key skills and minimise the cost of change associated with the NHS reforms within the region. If this applies to you then you should email the Recruitment and Resourcing Team at ( Email address removed ) to enable the necessary arrangements to be made.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the Trust is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The Trust is an Equal Opportunites Employer.
