The Critical Care Units at Kings treats a large number of patients from a variety of specialities. In September 2013 Critical Care launched a new outreach team ‘iMobile’ which operates 24/7 with a team of doctors and critical care nurses. The iMobile team provides the following service to patients on the wards:

  1. Rapid response, stabilisation and transfer to ICU
  2. ICU step down care
  3. Outreach service and education
  4. Mobile critical care therapy for patients on the wards requiring ‘optimisation’ and ‘trial of treatment’ or the facilitation of ‘safe discharge ‘

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new and innovative service; since the launch in September 2013 the team has seen over 8000 patients.

The critical care department offer well-established, structured teaching and staff development programmes for all staff, and we are affiliated to King’s College, London, which provides a wide variety of modules that will lead to BSc or MSc in Critical Care Nursing. Kings is now a member of the Academic Health Science Centre.

We are looking for proactive, enthusiastic and caring individual with excellent communication skills, who will enjoy working in these demanding and rapidly changing environments.

You will have an appropriate specialist course and teaching qualification and ideally possess a degree, with substantial critical care experience working in a similar clinical environment. You must be able to demonstrate expert clinical skills and evidence based decision making with the ability to work autonomously. Key attribute for this role is excellent communication skills with all members of the multi-disciplinary team. Delivering patient care in a variety of clinical settings, your role will be to work within the Mobile Critical Care team assessing, managing and treating patients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.This role is clinically based.

This post is full time, shift pattern including nights and weekends.
