The University Hospital of South Manchester (UHSM) is a major university teaching hospital serving the population of South Manchester. It is home for a number of tertiary and regional services. The main hospital site in Wythenshawe is close to Manchester airport and has good transport links to Manchester City Centre.
The Trauma & Orthopaedic Department consists of 12 consultants, 11 middle grade doctors and 9 junior grade doctors. There is one dedicated trauma ward and one orthopeadic elective ward. We hold daily fracture clinics as well as elective outpatient clinics for all four subspecialties (hand & wrist, shoulder & elbow, hip & knee, foot & ankle). The hospital also has a helipad so we see large trauma cases.
We are looking to recruit two trust grade, junior level, doctors to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics team, one to start as soon as possible and the other to start in December 2016. This is a full time (40 hours per week) permanent post. The post comes with a 1C banding supplement as the successful candidates will join a 1 in 9 on-call rota.
The post will also have many training and educational opportunities, with regular formal appraisals. The annual leave entitlement is between 27 and 32 days per year, depending on length of service, with additional study leave of up to 30 days per year. The successful candidate will also be entitled to join the NHS Pension Scheme.
