The successful candidate will have a vision and drive that will ensure the continued development of intrapartum services, providing clinical expertise, leadership and knowledge ensuring high standards of care whilst implementing a seamless service for women in line with the vision outlined in Safer Childbirth (DoH 2007) NICE Guidance and Better Births. You will need to have a commitment to delivering holistic women centred care, whilst participating and leading in clinical governance, risk management, research, evidenced based policy review and implementation of evidence based care.
The successful candidate will support the maternity matron in creating an environment that promotes normality of birth and ensures a positive risk culture that promotes the safety of women and their families. They will provide professional and managerial leadership, support and direction for all staff working on the labour ward, ensuring excellence in practice.
You need to be a registered midwife with a current live NMC registration. Hold a DM370 or equivalent qualification and be able to demonstrate a commitment of ongoing professional development. A minimum of a post register Diploma in midwifery with evidence of working toward a midwifery degree is essential.
Evidence of recent intrapartum experience is required, a minim of at least 2 years’ experience. You will need to be able to evidence that you have been involved in clinical audit and have participated in standard settings. Clinically you will be expected to be able to perform, perineal suturing, IV cannulation, IV drug additives and perform phlebotomy. You will need to have excellent communication skills both written and verbally and be computer literacy. You will need to evidence that you have up to date safeguarding training in line with your current role. You will need to be able to demonstrate skills in multidisciplinary working, be able to priorities your work, skills and time
