The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training and research.
The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.
LAS CT (CT1/2) in General Surgery
Applications are invited for a post at core trainee level in General Surgery starting in February 2017 for one year. The timetable is exactly the same as for core trainees supplied by the Oxford Deanery who have a very high success rate in obtaining higher surgical training posts. The post is based on the Surgical Emergency Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital which is a busy consultant led unit. Your timetable will include dedicated weeks of emergency operating based solely in theatre and also weeks of elective day-case operating at the Horton Hospital in Banbury giving you exposure to all the surgical skills required to apply for ST3 jobs. The post may also rotate to the Churchill Hospital for 6 months giving the applicant exposure to tertiary level elective surgery. The night-time commitment is 1 in 8 at the Churchill Hospital and 1 in 10 at the John Radcliffe.
