LAS CT1 / CT2 in Acute Medicine (Fixed term until 1st August 2017)
This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team at Lincoln County Hospital. For those wishing to gain further experience in general medicine, there is an opportunity for a fixed term post as a Trust Grade Doctor.This post will work alongside our existing trainees, who have foundation and VTS backgrounds, but would have an interest in a career in Medicine.The successful candidate would have full GMC Registration and ideally have experience in hospital medicine. Possession of an ALS Certificate is desirable. You would be supported by the department in developing yourself to progress further, either to middle grade level or for support into a training post.
What do we have to offer ?
The Integrated Medicine Business Unit currently deals with over 13,000 emergency admissions per year. There is a 51 bedded Medical Emergency Assessment Unit (MEAU) which is consultant-led and supported by experienced Nurse Practitioners and a team of junior medical staff.
You will be actively encouraged to develop your practical skills and become competent in chest drains, ascitic drains and lumbar punctures. The MEAU has its own new up to date ultrasound machine which you will have access to and will also be encouraged to learn basic bedside ultrasound.
We are one of the largest Trusts in the UK and provide a comprehensive range of health services to the local population. Lincoln is the county town of Lincolnshire, the hospital is a modern complex of 557 beds and is situated close to the city centre. We have links to the regional centres for Neurosurgery and Plastic surgery and we are the centre for treatment of patients involved in major disasters.
The Lincoln site is rapidly evolving especially with regard to cardiovascular provision on site and currently has primary PCI for STEMI and thrombolysis for Stroke developed and continuing to evolve into a fantastic service for patient care.
