Job Summary

Due to expansion at Peninsula Treatment Centre and the addition of a third theatre and a 2 suite endoscopy unit; we are currently looking for a Lead Endoscopy Nurse to join our dedicated team.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Nurse to be part of the launch of this exciting new service and lead and develop a new team in a state of the art centre providing clinical excellence for patients in the South West.

Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre in Plymouth offers high quality elective surgery for the local populations of Devon & Cornwall. We specialise in hip and knee joint replacements, shoulder repair, hand and elbow surgery, foot surgery and minor Orthopaedic procedures. We also deliver Ophthalmology, General and ENT surgery.

Our centre offers an expanding service in a friendly environment that is calm and the staff dedicated and professional. Our facilities are state-of-the-art with a mixture of theatres, treatment rooms and an endoscopy suite. Key Responsibilities

As the Lead Endoscopy Nurse you will be expected to provide a high quality, cost effective service within the Endoscopy department whilst maintaining the highest standard of care and safety for patients, visitors and staff.

You will provide both clinical and managerial support to the Theatre Manager in the development and implementation of high quality care protocols to provide a highly effective fast track service for all Endoscopy procedures.

In addition to clinical duties, you will also:

• Provide clear and consistent communication to the multidisciplinary team
• Assist the Theatre Manager in the allocation of staff and effectively run endoscopy lists
• Assist the Theatre Manager in ensuring that policies and procedures are implemented and reviewed in line with changes in practice and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulatory standards
• Support the overseeing of the work of junior and unqualified colleagues and provide clinical supervision as identified

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Substantial experience in Endoscopy with relevant clinical experience
• Experience in day care/ short stay nursing
• Experience of working with and leading a small team
• IV drug administration, venepuncture and cannulation skills
• Basic / Intermediate life support skills


• NMC Registered Nurse Level 1
• Specialist qualification in Endoscopy within a speciality (ENB 906/NURS 0197 Endoscopy Principles & Procedures or equivalent)
• Teaching qualification/ ENB 998 or equivalent
