An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Mental Health Nurse who likes the challenge of working within a fast paced, varied and often demanding but rewarding environment.

The Liaison team at Royal Derby Hospital offers a comprehensive range of mental health specialties within one multi- disciplinary team, so that all patients of 18 and above can be assessed, treated, signposted or referred appropriately regardless of age, address, presenting complaint, time of presentation or severity and complexity. The team is based on the RAID (Rapid, Assessment, Interface, Discharge) Model of Liaison Psychiatry.

The service aims to meet the mental health needs of all adult patients in the hospital, including those who self-harm, have substance misuse issues or have mental health difficulties commonly associated with old age, including dementia. This is either through direct contact with the patient or supporting and advising the Royal Derby Hospital clinicians.

As a Band 6 nurse you will have excellent assessment skills within mental health and/or substance misuse, the ability to engage, connect with patients and staff in an acute physical healthcare setting. Your risk assessment skills and the ability to take considered positive risk taking choices will enable you to work creatively and collaboratively with people in crisis, you will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

Support, training, coaching, mentoring and reflective practice will be available within a team who values curiosity, discussion and critical thinking.

Within this role there is a requirement to work on a 24/7 shift rotation.

DBS Check

The cost of undertaking a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service formerly known as CRB) disclosure will be met by the individual. The Trust will meet the initial costs of the disclosure which will be deducted from your first month’s salary. The current price of a standard check is £26 and an enhanced check is £44.
