Priory Hospital Potters Bar is a 50 bedded hospital with 4 wards specialising in acute specialist mental health services. We provide patient care pathways in partnership with the NHS, offering high quality, value for money, responsive mental health services.

The hospital is located just of the M25 making it easily accessible from London, the Home Counties and East Anglia. It is also well located for patient access to the town and local services. Our recently refurbished hospital offers en-suite accommodation for male and female patients in our acute wards and for male and female patients in our 2 new HDU wards. We offer psychological and occupational therapy and social and recreational activities. We put great emphasis on providing a homely and welcoming environment for patients and visiting carers and a secure garden area is also available.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Occupational Therapist to work in an acute mental health setting in Potters Bar. The candidate will be responsible for managing and leading an OT Department using evidence-based and patient-centred principles to support service users throughout their recovery. As the service is relatively new, the post-holder will have the opportunity to be involved in service development of the hospital. There are also exciting opportunities for continuing professional development. The post holder will hold a BSc in Occupational Therapy together with HCPC registration, have experience working in a mental health setting and preferably experience managing a team.

The role will involve:
  • Assessing and identifying occupational needs based on the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), and implementing interventions which provide service users with the confidence, skills and coping strategies required for independent living.
  • Leading an Occupational Therapy Department consisting of an Occupational Therapist and Activity Coordinators.
  • Facilitating occupational therapy interventions on an individual and group basis.
  • Working as part of an MDT to contribute to clinical discussions about service user needs.

  • Participating in training, development and clinical supervision.
