2 x Locum Appointment for Service

Department of Respiratory Medicine and General Medicine.

Based at St James’s University Hospital

Posts are available until 01 October 2017

We are looking for two dynamic individuals to fill these LAS posts within the Departments of Respiratory and General Medicine at St James’s Hospital.

The creation of the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust represents a unique opportunity for the city to become home to one of the leading health care institutions in the world, excelling in patient care, teaching and research.

Applicants should have established skills in Respiratory Medicine and Acute General Medicine and related specialties. The applicant should have prior training in chest drain insertion. These posts offer a potential opportunity to gain expertise in EBUS, ILD, Sleep/NIV, TB, Asthma & Lung Cancer.

The successful applicants should possess experience in Respiratory Medicine & have MRCP (or equivalent) at the time of interview.

Candidates must be fully registered with the General Medicine Council and hold a license to practice at the time of application.

A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching is desirable.

If you are successful in being offered a position which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check required is dependent upon the position that you have applied for. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment and will need to be renewed annually. Note for Band 1 roles the Trust will pay for the cost of the DBS checks and will refund to you the cost of the update service.
