Brief Description of the Role:

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist who will join a friendly, enthusiastic Anaesthetic Department.

The Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides acute services for the City of Bradford and the surrounding areas. There are two large general hospitals: Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Luke’s Hospital; the Maternity Services are centralised at the maternity unit on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site which includes our neonatal unit. The main theatres and emergency admissions are located at Bradford Royal Infirmary while St Luke’s Hospital provides a large outpatient facility and wards for therapy and rehabilitation.

The department is relaxed, friendly and values work – life balance. There are 41 Consultants, 4 Non Consultant Career Grade Anaesthetists and 31 trainees. We actively encourage personal and professional development. Informal enquiries or visits are welcomed.

The Anaesthetic Department provides comprehensive services normally expected of a district hospital. These include vascular, colorectal, breast surgery, trauma and orthopaedic, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT and oro-maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology and plastic surgery, supported by a 16 bedded critical care unit.

This post is initially for 3 months, pending substantive appointments and are for 10 programmed activities. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly to meet the requirements of service delivery within a busy department.The post holder will be expected to have a wide range of anaesthetic skills and experience, full GMC registration.
