Locum Consultant Anaesthetist
A locum consultant anaesthetist is required for 1 year to cover maternity leave. Sessions will be at both sites of the Trust as will the on-call commitment, which is currently 1 in 10. A number of special interests can be accommodated. Intensive Care Medicine would be particularly welcome. This dynamic department has 34 consultants and is planning further expansion. Maidstone Hospital is a modern general hospital with a fully equipped Postgraduate Centre and library. The hospital is home to the Kent Oncology Centre and the anaesthetic department provides support for a wide range of Oncological surgery and procedures such as Brachytherapy and RFA. Other specialist services include colorectal surgery, gynaeoncology, urology, ophthalmic surgery, breast surgery, orthopaedics and acute medical specialties, including paediatrics. The Tunbridge Wells Hospital is located in Pembury adjacent to the A21. It is a superb new 512 bed hospital and opened fully in September 2011 with the reconfiguration of many surgical specialties. Trauma, CEPOD, Paediatrics ENT and a 6000 delivery Obstetric unit are all located here. It is the first NHS hospital where all main wards are comprised entirely of single rooms with en suite bathrooms.
The Trust is situated in an attractive part of the South East of England, in the Kent countryside, conveniently situated for London and the Continent. There are both excellent independent and grammar schools in the area.
You must be on the specialist register or be within six months of completion of CCT/CESR at date of interview.
