Applications are invited to apply for a Locum Consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a interest in Fetal Medicine at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Additional programmed activities may be available upon agreement.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the general Obstetric and Gynaecology on call rota.
The Obstetric Department has approximately 3994 deliveries per year and comprises a labour ward with 10 delivery rooms. There is a daily elective caesarean section list and a separate emergency obstetric theatre. There is an Antenatal Day Assessment Unit and 43 Maternity beds. Nuchal Translucency Screening is offered to all mothers before 12th completed week of pregnancy.
The Treatment Centre provides capacity for elective gynaecological surgery. There is an Early Assessment Pregnancy Unit, facilities for out-patient diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopy, colposcopy and urodynamics. Minimal access surgery is well established.
There are 8 Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists plus this post, 5 Specialist Trainees and 4 Trust Doctors at registrar level, with 9 trainees at SHO level.
All posts will support the expanding Obstetric service and enable increased Consultant presence on the delivery suite.
The successful applicant will be expected to participate in teaching both under and postgraduate students associated with the University of Buckingham and will also be expected to support colleagues doing these activities as part of his or her arranged job plan.
