Plymouth Hospital NHS Trust seek to appoint a Locum Consultant Clinical Oncologist

Site Speciality: All cancer sites considered

Salary: Consultant Scale Duration: 6 months fixed term contract initially

Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust is the lead tertiary Oncology and Haematology Centre in the South West Peninsula and provides a broad range of specialist treatments. These include SRS/T, SABR, IGRT, IMRT, HDR / LDR Brachytherapy and the full range of Stem Cell Transplants.

Our Oncology Centre has invested in 3 new LINACS and a number of new Oncology posts in recent years to support the development of these specialist services. Our Oncology Centre is expanding rapidly and is the most research active in the South West Peninsula. All Oncology staff are expected to be research active with dedicated time in their job plans to support research. Research is well supported by a large team of Research Nurses, a dedicated Research Registrar and administrative staff.

All Consultants manage their own site specific workload and participate in our Acute Oncology Service (Mon-Fri 9-5) on a 1 week in 12 basis. Secretarial support is provided along with out of hours support via the On-call Registrar. All cancer sites are covered by more than one consultant to enable team working and cross cover.

This is an exciting time at the Plymouth Oncology Centre. A number of new permanent posts have been created and are being recruited alongside each other taking our team of Oncologists to 12. Opportunities include:

Post 1: Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Urology, LGI and Lymphoma Ref 216-9491-ONC

Post 2: Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Lung and Gynaecology – soon to be advertised

Post 3: Academic Consultant Clinical Oncologist (Joint appointment with Plymouth University - All sites considered) – soon to be advertised

Post 4: Locum Consultant Clinical Oncologist (6 month FTC initially) – THIS POST We are fortunate to have a number of new permanent positions. We will therefore consider all site specialities on an interim basis.
