Applications are invited for this Locum Consultant in Ophthalmology post in East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a cross-site position based at the Conquest Hospital, Hastings, but in addition contributing to the ophthalmic service provided at Bexhill Hospital and Eastbourne District General Hospital. It is a full-time Locum Consultant post and the holder would be expected to contribute to the General Ophthalmology service as well as running and developing a Paediatric and Adult Motility Ophthalmology Unit. The Conquest Hospital has in-patient paediatric beds and special care baby unit, and both sites are well supported with orthoptic and nursing staff.
Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register for Ophthalmology or within six months of obtaining specialist registration at the time of interview. Successful applicants may be asked to participate in a 1:8 Consultant on-call rota.
Eastbourne is a seaside town at the foot of the South Downs and surrounded by beautiful Sussex countryside. Hastings is a cosmopolitan coastal town which lies between the rugged beauty of the East and West Hills. There is easy access to London, Gatwick airport and the Eurostar, making the post an enviable opportunity for the establishment of a Consultant practice.
