We are looking to appoint a Locum Consultant Physician on a 6 month Locum contract in the first instance to work with a committed team in our Acute Assessment Centre/Short Stay Ward at Queen’s Hospital, Burton.

These posts offer the chance to be part of a rapidly expanding and modern Department within a dynamic and progressive Trust.

The Trust is keen to consider applications from candidates who have a sub specialty interest that may benefit the service. This should be disclosed in application/CV for discussion during interview. If agreed, the specific allocation would then form part of the job planning process.

Appointment to this 10 PA posts is subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of the new consultant contract (2003). Further conditions have been implemented by the Trust will have been negotiated with the Medical and Dental Local Negotiating Committee. The national salary scale for Locum Consultant appointments will apply, as per schedule 22 of the terms and conditions of service (YC73).

There will also be the opportunity to partake in the General Medicine on-call rota which currently stands at 1:16.

It is essential that the applicant holds an MBBS and MRCP or equivalent certificate. Applicants must be registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practice.

The post offers the opportunity to live in an area of outstanding natural beauty within the National Forest area and the Peak District National Park is also within close vicinity. Visits can be arranged for candidates in order to appreciate the quality of life our Hospital and the surrounding area can offer including:-
