Salary - Specialist Registrar pay scale
The Locum post is a fixed term position until 31317 as a Locum Clinical Fellow in Hand Surgery to join our very busy and highly regarded Unit.

The successful applicant will join a team of 5 Registrars, a research fellow and 9 Consultants. Clinical duties will involve considerable supervised and unsupervised elective and trauma outpatient clinics and operating lists. A wide variety of procedures are performed and the post holder will rotate between Consultants to allow supervision/instruction and to maximise the experience.

The appointee will be required to participate in the hand surgery emergency on call rota. The post holder will be able to participate in departmental teaching and study opportunities and will be able to attend recognised courses where they do not compromise service delivery.

The Unit itself runs a number of national courses for Hand Surgeons. Based at the Royal Derby Hospital, the Pulvertaft Hand Unit is a friendly, close and supportive unit and is one of the few dedicated to hand surgery in the country. It is nationally and internationally recognised with special areas of interest in hand trauma, wrist, tendon, brachial plexus, rheumatology and particular expertise in orthopaedic, plastic and emergency surgery as well as associated upper limb disorders.

The Unit comprises of dedicated facilities including 3 theatres, outpatient department, physiotherapy and occupational theraly, secretariat and research unit.

Informal visits will only be arranged for short listed candidates.
