Full Time - 375 hours per week

Permanent Post

This is an exciting time in the development of cancer services in Worcestershire.

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (WAHNHST) has now been treating patients in our state of the art Worcestershire Oncology Centre, radiotherapy department on the Worcestershire Royal Hospital site since January 2015. This development now allows patients to access radiotherapy on site in Worcester for the first time and has reduced the need for Worcestershire residents to travel out of county. This service consists of a forward thinking team and is currently undergoing further development; including a proposed expansion of our existing countywide chemotherapy and support services.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a nurse to join our established nurse led Acute Oncology Service (Haematology & Oncology) at WAHNHST. A team of experienced nurse practitioners currently provide a telephone triage helpline, which facilitates rapid assessment of patients requiring urgent care. The team also deliver expert oncology outreach service and advice to other ward areas and professionals. We require a dynamic innovative nurse who possesses excellent communication skills, is able to work autonomously and as part of a large multidisciplinary team to ensure the best patient experience. You will play a key role in education to other members of staff and take part in compliance audits. The Acute Oncology Service is currently supported by 10 Consultant Oncologists and several junior medical grades.

To apply for this position you will require recent experience of Oncology/Haematology/acute emergency conditions working at a senior level at band 6 or above.
