£31,383 - £41,373 per annum/pro rata

Are you a Senior Occupational Therapist passionate about making a positive difference for people living with a diagnosis of cancer?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to be part of our Macmillan Positive Living Team. The post offers a rare opportunity to become a Macmillan Professional working as a part of a multidisciplinary team, in the Medway Macmillan Cancer Care Unit. In this role you will be working alongside nursing, physiotherapy, dietetic and social work colleagues. You will be working in close partnership with the Macmillan Physiotherapist on a daily basis. As a Band 7 OT, you will also assist in leading the small speciality therapy team and play an integral role as a senior member of the wider Therapy Team.

The role involves providing an OT service to and working in, an acute inpatient ward, the chemotherapy day unit and in patient’s own homes. This post allows a flexible individual to work with a holistic approach, to meet a wide variety of needs for this patient group. It provides a real opportunity to work closely with both patients and families, aiming to maximise quality of life. The role involves working with patients at any point of their cancer journey from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond into both survivorship, and end of life care.

The successful post holder will demonstrate highly effective team working and excellent communication skills. They will provide leadership for ongoing development of the therapy service and as part of the MDT. They will also recognise the importance of actively working with and supporting patient’s carers and families, in this rewarding speciality. In return for this commitment, you will receive support, extensive training and educational opportunities via both Medway NHS Foundation Trust and Macmillan Cancer Support.
