Personal Activities Leader (PAL)
Campsie House NDC
I started work as the Activities Co-ordinator in July 2008. I came from a background of Retail but had previously worked in the care environment many years ago.
I have always been involved in the community – Scout Leader and the local Amateur Dramatic Society and these life experiences have contributed and to my ability to both the communicate and encourage residents to enjoy all the aspects’ of social interaction.
I work closely with the rest of the staff in the home to ensure activities are personalised to each resident.
The activities range from one to one chat, handcrafts/clay making –cake making and theatre visits We have entertainers in the home which include the introduction of animals and birds as well as music.
I enjoy the interaction with the residents and they appear to enjoy the efforts made for them. This is the main reason I enjoy the role.
