Job Title: Make Ready Operative (MRO) – Ambulances


(MUST HAVE FULL CLEAN UK CAT C1 DRIVING LICENCE and experience of driving larger vehicles)

Location: South Witham near Grantham NG33 5QN or any other base that may be required within a 50 mile radius

Position: Permanent Full Time Position (160 hour per Month contract)

Remuneration: £750 per hour

Accountable to: Station Manager

Rota: Working on a rotating basis covering outdoor cleaning area. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends and nights on a rotating basis. 4 on 2 off shifts pattern. 40 hour week - Overtime available.

Job Summary

You will be responsible as part of the make ready team for the operational preparation of all ambulances and vehicles used by the company on a rotating basis, incorporating days, evenings, weekends and night shifts. This role includes working outdoors, under cover and inside vehicles parked on site, therefore please bear this in mind when applying.

Main Duties

  • The preparation and cleaning of all ambulances and vehicles in accordance with the company make ready policies and procedures and infection control.
  • The preparation and cleaning of all ambulance and vehicle equipment such as: stretchers, wheelchairs, boards, carry chair, linen, life pack, suction unit.
  • Moving and handling large pieces of equipment in and out of vehicles
    • Removal and disposal of any medical or general waste into the relevant waste bag and disposed of in the allocated waste point.
    • Replenish and issue all ambulances with consumables in accordance with company check sheet and vehicle role prior to operational deployment.
    • Identify, record and report all vehicle defects or breakages using the company fault reporting system.
    • Follow up any outstanding fault report issues as directed by management.
    • Complete any other general duties as directed by operational management.
    • Overtime hours are available if required and we expect all staff to be reasonably flexible in regard to working patterns to aid us in adapting to the needs of the business requirements

    • You will familiarize yourself with company policies and procedures in particular: uniform, vehicle driving, bullying and harassment, health and safety, equality and diversity and infection control.
