Airedale is a high performing Foundation Trust (consistently in the top 10 nationally for the quality of care, and recently rated in the lowest risk band by CQC) providing personalised, acute, elective, community and specialist care services of a high standard for local people in an area extending from the fringes of north Bradford to parts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park – a community of over 220,000 people across 700 square miles within Yorkshire and Lancashire. The Trust was recently named as runner up in the Dr Foster Trust of the Year awards having also won the ‘Small Trust of the Year’ four times since 2006, and has recently received the CHKS award for patient safety, along with a range of other awards. The Trust has close to the lowest Hospital Standardised Mortality Rate in England.
Airedale is a highly ambitious Foundation Trust and has already established an excellent reputation for innovative developments. It has been developing its telemedicine expertise over the past seven years in order to provide better patient experience, and provide a range of different telehealth solutions to provide a full end-to-end service to support new care pathways incorporating assistive technology.
Recognised nationally for being innovative and at the forefront of change, we are working closely with partners to re-shape how services are delivered, moving towards an approach centred on patient orchestrated care. Our talented and committed staff are rightfully proud of the outstanding care we provide.
We are ambitious and optimistic about our future at the heart of both the local community and the healthcare economy, and intend maintaining our forward-thinking approach, taking advantage of the opportunities presented by the on-going changes to the NHS.
Higher Level MLA (Band 3)
Based at Airedale General Hospital and Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) and Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (ANHSFT) are both high-performing Trusts providing acute and specialist outreach services for local people.
BTHFT and ANHSFT have formed a joint venture, Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP (IPS) to provide pathology services to both organisations and other local healthcare providers. The service covers all disciplines including Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Histopathology and Cytopathology.
The joint venture has a number of opportunities for experienced Biomedical Scientists and support staff on both the BTHFT and ANHSFT sites to join this exciting partnership dedicated to the delivery of high quality service.
If your application is successful you will be directly employed by ANHSFT. The Trust is fully committed to its staff and actively encourages staff development with constant focus on quality and continuous improvement. Our laboratories are CPA, MHRA and CQC accredited and approved for IBMS Training which means we can offer support for scientific training at all levels, helping you to develop both professionally and personally. We believe that providing excellent education, training and development for our staff is essential and support staff to complete registration and specialist portfolios and provide access to courses up to and including Master’s degree. In addition we support development of staff with internal and external courses for management, Health & Safety and Quality management.
Over the past few years, we have received a number of accolades for patient safety and our quality of care. The Trust was rated earlier this year for the fifth time as one of the top 40 hospitals by CHKS, an independent provider of healthcare intelligence and quality improvement services.
Staff benefits across the two Trusts include a children's day nursery, subsidised restaurant facilities, cyber café, on-site parking and discounts at local leisure facilities. We have a wellbeing programme which offers a range of exercise classes, Employee Assistance Advice Line, Occupational Health Services and a staff gym.
You will be joining a forward thinking, innovative service and will benefit from the strength and resources of two successful Trusts.
