Solent NHS Trust are looking for committed and motivated nurses to join our inpatient team at The Orchards Unit and Oakdene Unit, St James Hospital, Portsmouth which are Adult Mental Health residential services;
The Orchards is an acute admissions inpatient unit made up of 2 wards, Acute and PICU. This unit covers the Portsmouth area which provides high quality care and treatment to persons in an acute mental health crisis
Oakdene is an inpatient Rehabilitation and Recovery unit. Oakdene provides high quality holistic care for adults requiring mental health care and treatment.
Working within a multidisciplinary team in a modern and therapeutic environment, you will be facilitating patient centred care that focuses upon recovery, empowerment and improving the quality of life for people.
We are seeking an empathic and dynamic mental health nurses with excellent communication skills who enjoys working within a challenging but ultimately rewarding clinical environment. You will provide direct care to our inpatients, assessing needs and managing risks whilst maintaining a therapeutic and safe environment. You will be required to supervise junior members of staff, acting as a role model at all times and undertake the role of nurse in charge of shifts. You role will afford you the opportunity to liaise with the families and carers of our patients as well as community and 3rd sector services. Some previous experience is desirable though not essential. You must be able to work shifts, days, nights and weekends as per the duty rota when required.
You will be required to undertake conflict resolution training which requires a reasonable level of fitness which will be assessed before being able to undertake this training.
