Job Description

We have full and part-time positions available for registered nurses (adult or paediatric trained) and midwives.

No previous experience required as full training will be provided.

During your induction you will work supernumerary with someone supporting you, while working through an education pathway.

Neonatal Services within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, consists of two units. The Unit at Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport is a Level 3 unit, providing intensive care for 20 cots: 1 stabilisation cot, 6 ITU, 7 HDU and 6 SC, with transitional care cots on the postnatal wards.
The unit at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny is a Level 2 unit, providing high dependency and special care but also stabilisation intensive care until a transfer can be arranged. It has 10 cots: 1 stabilisation cot, 3 HDU and 6 SC, with transitional care cots on the postnatal ward.

The nursing establishment for the Service complies with the All Wales Neonatal standards regarding staffing which is 1:1 nursing for ITU babies, 1:2 for HDU babies and 1:4 for SC babies.

We have a dedicated team of Neonatal Nurses, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Consultants and Practice Development Team. As part of the All Wales Neonatal Network Transport Service, we care not only for babies and their families born in our Health Board but from the whole of Wales. We also have a dedicated Neonatal Liaison Service.

We are looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated Band 5 nurses with a flexible approach to work who are able to work the full nursing rota. This includes 12 hour shift patterns of days, nights and weekends. You will be required to rotate between both sites.

Registered midwives will be expected to uphold their intention to practice in their own time.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.

With effect from 1st January 2016 points 1,2,3 and 4 on AfC Pay Band 1 and Pay Band 2 will be adjusted to £16,132 to reflect the incorporation of the living wage
