An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced senior Nursing Services Manager who can bring transformational leadership, enthusiasm, energy and management expertise to this crucial role. The successful applicant will be joining a forward thinking organisation, at an exciting period for the Trust. The post holder will help shape the future of Nursing Services for the Emergency Department, acute medicine and stroke services at a time of an ambitious programme of patient service re-design and transformation for our local population. East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust has a turnover of circa £350m and the acute hospital care covers a population of around 600,000 people which includes south, east and north Hertfordshire, as well as parts of Bedfordshire.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Medicine Divisional Management Team working alongside the Divisional Director, Clinical Chair, Clinical Directors, General Managers and Matrons. The Nursing Services Manager will be expected to provide visible leadership to all the Emergency services including the Emergency Department, the Urgent Care Centre at the New QEII, Acute Medical Services and Stroke Nursing and support staff within the Division and to lead by example.
There was a major investment of £19 million in 2014 in the A&E Department, and patient attendances were 141,260 last year. The post holder will be responsible with a multidisciplinary team for ensuring the highest standards of clinical quality care are delivered and performance and strategic targets and objectives are met in line with national and local strategic priorities. This role requires working closely with key stakeholders as we continuously improve the delivery of high quality, patient focused services and develop a strong empowered workforce. The Trust covers a significant geographical area north of London within easy commuting distance and direct links by road and rail to major UK centres such as London. The Trust is responsible for the healthcare of more than 600,000 people living in South East England, and the department is a dedicated type 2 Trauma unit, and we deliver 24/7 Stroke and PPCI services.
