Occupational Therapist - Rotation

Job Description

We are a pioneering research active organisation and we are proud to be doing things differently; whether that be redefining the shape of the local health and care system through our innovative plans for integrated care, or developing new services such as our Frail Older Person’s Assessment Service and our Medically Fit for Discharge Ward.

As well as creating the future, we also know the importance of providing really good, safe, and caring services for our patients. Our iCARE ethos sets out the principles which every member of our staff works to, ensuring good communication, attitude, respect and care for the hospital environment. Our patients tell us we’re getting this right, with our Friends and Family Test results consistently above 95 per cent (patients ‘extremely likely’ or ‘likely’ to recommend us to their friends and family).

An opportunity has arisen within our Inpatient Therapy Department at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a band 5 Occupational Therapist. The individual will have the opportunity to join the existing rotational scheme that functions across a number of clinical areas including; emergency care, acute medicine, elderly rehabilitation, neurology, discharge team, orthopaedics and within a community setting.

The individual's key duties will involve managing a clinical caseload, working across multiple clinical settings, developing skills in a range of clinical areas, delegation of work to rehabilitation assistants and taking part in the development of themselves and others.

This includes working alongside physiotherapists, rehabilitation assistants, the wider multidisciplinary team and building links with community services to support discharges.

There will be continued opportunity to learn new skills both in practice and within the various team training schedules.

We are seeking a hardworking, forward-thinking individual who will embellish both the challenges and opportunities associated with acute therapy care.

Newly qualified OTs will benefit from peer supervision and monthly CPD meetings and preceptorship programme.
