Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team at Pilgrim Hospital.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake duties to facilitate rehabilitation of in-patients, enabling them to gain and/or maintain independence in their chosen occupational performance activities.

Working as part of the Multidisciplinary Team the post holder will assist patients in preparing for their transfer from the hospital setting into their identified place of discharge (i.e. home, community based rehabilitation setting) while taking into account their individual Occupational needs.

The post holder will

  • Gain experience of the rapid rehabilitation within the acute hospital setting (trauma and orthopaedics, general and vascular surgery, medicine, elderly care and stroke rehabilitation).
  • Increase their assessment skills and carry out appropriate intervention to enable patients to achieve their goals.
  • Be responsible for a defined caseload with support from a senior therapist

  • An established in-service training programme. We encourage staff to develop leadership skills needed to progress their career
  • Clinical supervision and support through Preceptorship
  • Performance development review
  • Peer group support
