Job Description

The Huntercombe Hospital, Cedar House- near Canterbury

The hospital is a 40 bed low secure hospital that provides specialist assessments, treatment and care for adults with intellectual disabilities, personality disorders or autistic spectrum disorders, including those with challenging behaviours and forensic histories.

We work collaboratively with our patients and their families or carers and provide person-centred care and support. We employ staff in a variety of different roles and provide ongoing support with comprehensive training, learning and development opportunities.

The hospital is located in the village of Barham, 9 miles South East of Canterbury and less than one mile from the A2.

As an Occupational Therapist you will need to participate in the provision of high quality therapeutic activities, using a wide range of approaches to suit the patient’s varying needs. Encourage independence and personal choice and help to provide an environment which is conducive to patients with varied and complex needs realising their potential to live as independently as they can find possible.

This exciting and dynamic role will place you at the heart of a clinical team, working closely with patients and other healthcare professionals to deliver the best care and rehabilitation for patients.

As an Occupational Therapist your main duties will be:-

  • To participate in the provision of high therapeutic activities, using a wide range of approaches to suit the patients varying needs
  • To encourage independence and personal choice and help provide an environment which is conductive to patients with varied and complex needs
  • Be able to provide evidence based practice and that is outcome focused
  • Ensure that you provide evidence-based practice and are outcome focussed
  • Continually strive for clinical excellence whilst retaining integrity, technical skill and competence

To join The Huntercombe Group as an Occupational Therapist you will:-

  • Have a minimum BSc or recognised postgraduate diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Hold current HCPC registration
  • Be able to work autonomously and within a MDT.
  • Have a person centred ethos, showing empathy and a desire to make a difference
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative and creativity
  • Be flexible and adaptable, well organised and able to manage time and workload effectively in line with the needs of the service
  • Have a desire to expand your professional development and support organisational change
  • Have a legal right to work in the UK
