Our vacancy Service/Function/department summary

The Virgin Care occupational therapy team in Swale provides an invaluable service of specialist advice and treatment for patients across intermediate care, rapid response and community hospitals. We deliver an occupational therapy service for adults across the surrounding region and aim to make a difference to people’s lives within this community.

As an Occupational Therapist you will join a multidisciplinary team and will work alongside dedicated and highly-skilled NHS-trained Occupational Therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, therapy assistants and administration team members. We are a team of 40 number in total and look to support each other in any way we can by holding regular meetings, in-service training, supervision and have a structured appraisal system.

This is a full time role working across various locations in Swale. As an Occupational Therapist with Virgin Care you will use your experience to deliver excellent patient care and where appropriate guide others. Our role offers you a real opportunity to add value to the local community and broaden your experience. You will develop your skills in treating patients working on varied, complex caseloads – providing therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients and their carers.

The role will also involve:

  • Delivering of high quality, individualised, evidenced based care to all patients
  • Ensuring that therapy input is integrated into the patients’ overall care plan
  • Operating as an autonomous practitioner working without direct supervision and at times lone working
  • Providing supervision, training and support to unqualified staff and students if appropriate
  • Working with managers to develop the service in line with patient need, local and national developments


The essential qualities we are looking for in our Occupational Therapist applicants are:

  • Knowledge of relevant NSFs, NICE guidelines, appropriate national guidance and other relevant initiatives
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams across health, social and voluntary sectors
  • Proven ability of case management
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BSc/Diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
  • HCPC Registration
  • Knowledge of a range of client groups including any of the following: community, rehabilitation, hospital, neurology, elderly, oncology and orthopaedics
