The Occupational Therapy Department require an experienced Occupational Therapist to work alongside our current establishment of Occupational Therapy staff to support the rehabilitation and enablement of patients on the acute medical wards. Our team provides Occupational Therapy to patients referred from various specialities including Acute Cardiac Care, Respiratory, Dementia Care, Gastroenterology, Oncology and Emergency Care. The Occupational Therapy team is valued as part of the wider MDT and interventions are integral to the patients continuum of care leading to their discharge from Acute Care. The team is well resourced and has a good structure of B7’s, B6’s, rotational B5’s and Occupational Therapy Technicians. As part of the Occupational Therapy Team you will work collaboratively to complete assessments, interventions and demonstrate sound clinical reasoning to enable patients to achieve optimum potential during their in-patient stay.
As part of your role, you will supervise B5 staff and also work alongside Occupational Therapy support staff and be responsible for their daily work, gaining valuable experience supervising staff and students, as well as contributing to service development initiatives. Previous experience of in-patient general medical wards is desirable but not essential and you will be encouraged and provided with opportunities to develop specialist knowledge and skills and gain experience within different specialist areas within the team.
