We are seeking to recruit a full-time band 7 Paediatric Diabetes Nurse to join the existing Paediatric Diabetes nursing team based within the Community Children’s Nursing Team based in the Child Development Centre in Harlow, Essex serving the population of West Essex and some of East & North Hertfordshire.
The Diabetes Nursing Service works with the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust to provide a comprehensive diabetes service with clinics operating across three sites.
This is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave at present.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and skilled children’s nurse with excellent communication skills. You will need to demonstrate a keen interest in this specialist area and motivation to provide a high standard of patient care. You will need to be able to work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your role will involve providing consistent care to the patients & families on our caseload from admission at diagnosis, through clinic appointments, any subsequent admissions, to transition though a planned process to the young adults clinic. This will include community visits to homes and schools, support for consultant clinics, structured education sessions and the implementation of the insulin pump service
The post will involve out of hours/ on call and you will need to demonstrate you can be flexible and manage change in a positive and effective way.
