We are looking to appoint a Senior Paediatric support worker at SPIRE Leeds Hospital, here you will be responsible for assisting with the care and management of children across many specialities throughout their hospital journey predominantly in the Outpatients Department.
With your skills and experience you will assess, plan and implement high standards of nursing care ensuring that your patient has the best possible experience. You will be joining us at an exciting time where you will have the ability to help the team shape the service going forwards ensuring that our paediatric patients receive outstanding care.

As an essential part of our small Paediatric team, you will work mainly in the Outpatients departments; you’ll deliver high quality, clinically effective patient care. We offer a wide variety of specialities which will broaden your skills in a modern hospital with fantastic facilities. You will have the time to put patients first - our reputation depends upon it. You’ll enjoy the variety of working within different specialist areas .You will need to be flexible to work shifts, including evenings, due to the timings of some clinics.

As Senior Paediatric support worker, you will be responsible for the care and management of both children and adults attending a variety of clinics. Your skills and experience will enable you to assess, plan and implement high standards of nursing care ensuring that your patient has the best possible experience.

About The Individual:

In order to be successful in your application to the role of Senior Paediatric support worker you must be educated to level 3 or equivalent have experience in Surgical ward and or Outpatients.

  • To assist in the assessment of care needs and development and implementation of programmes of care for patients.

  • To help provide professional advice to others (colleagues/other departments) on matters relating to paediatric care.

  • To demonstrate a consistently high standard of nursing care.

  • To provide a resource to colleagues.

  • To promote and safeguard the wellbeing and interests of all patients, families, employees and visitors.

  • To ensure that high standards of paediatric patient care are maintained at all times in accordance with hospital and national guidelines.

Who we're looking for:

  • Support worker with level 3 certificate or equivalent

  • Paediatric experience in an outpatient department or Ward environment

  • Venepuncture and Cannulation skills are desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good IT skills

  • Ability to work under pressure as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills

About the Role

We can see large numbers of patients on a single day and looking  for  a support worker who is able to provide an outstanding level of care to all patients and their families. You will act as a strong patient advocate whilst working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team. You will get the chance to develop your own skills whilst working alongside Nurses who are specialists in their fields.
