Royal Gwent Hospital Paediatric Wards and Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU)

Our CAU care for children 0-16 years, who arrive in our department from many sources such as ED, GP’s and direct consultant referrals. CAU provides assessment, treatment/stabilisation to children and young people with acute, chronic and complex needs, with the vision to discharging the child/young person home as soon as possible or transferring them safely to the paediatric wards for continuum of care.
Our CAU and wards offer a variety of challenges on a daily basis whilst enhancing your skills and knowledge. Our team is friendly and approachable giving the support to each other, as well as to the children/young people and their families.
The posts are based on the Paediatric Unit at The Royal Gwent Hospital but may involve working in other areas across the Paediatric Unit including Nevill Hall Hospital, Community and the Neonatal Unit. In addition, newly qualified Children's Nurses will have the opportunity to part of the integrated role within acute and community settings. The post requires working a combination of days, nights, weekends and bank holidays to meet the needs of the service.

With effect from 1st January 2016 points 1,2,3 and 4 on AfC Pay Band 1 and Pay Band 2 will be adjusted to £16,132 to reflect the incorporation of the living wage
