Are you interested in working within paediatric day surgery attached to a paediatric assessment unit? We are looking for nurses to work Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work. This would involve two shifts of 07:00 – 15:00 and 11:00 – 19:00.
Would you like to acquire new ways to deliver the highest quality and safest care to children, young people whilst undergoing day surgery. If your answer is YES then Paediatric Day Surgery at Wexham Park Hospital is the ideal place for you!
You will be highly motivated Registered Children’s Nurse or Newly Qualified with commitment to continuous service improvement and passionate about delivering high quality, effective, safe, and excellent patient care.
You will be fully supported by our experienced Paediatric Practice Development Nurse, Preceptors, Team Leaders along with our Senior Sister, Clinical Practice Educators and Senior Clinical Matron.

Our Team
We have a unique, friendly, innovative and dynamic team who are delighted to be responsible for Children’s Ward and young people from across East Berkshire and some of South Bucks with general medical and surgical conditions including respiratory, oncology, haematology, orthopaedic, ENT, plastics, urology and oral surgery specialities from 5 days to 18 years old.

We have 27 inpatient and 2 dedicated high dependency beds, as well as a 6 bedded day surgery area and a Childrens rapid assessment/observation area taking GP, A&E and referrals from other healthcare professionals and from those children on permanent open access and you will have an opportunity to rotate throughout these areas.

We have close links with our Childrens Outpatient Department, Paediatric A+E and our Children’s Community Nursing Teams as well as our regional Children’s Hospital in Oxford.

Successful applicants will be required to attend a corporate induction starting on the 1st day of employment with us. There are 2 courses per month and you must be prepared to start with us on one of these pre-set dates in the month. The induction course is up to 4 full days of training (subject to role) and will be run on weekdays only.
